MSP Fergus Ewing: The Writing's On the Wall

Fergus Ewing MSP and the Minister for Community Safety visited Bellahouston Academy to witness the initiative taken by the pupils to promote inter-community relations by the use of graffiti.

The pupils decided to do something about the graffiti that covered the foot bridge next to their school. The pupils with the help of The Iona Community and GalGael trust created graffiti of their own. The graffiti now promotes community harmony, and helps to fight sectarian hatred. The young people of the community are taking a stand against the crude graffiti and making it a force for good through artistic expression. The project is ongoing and hopes to improve the environment of other public areas near the school.
