10 Years of the Govan Credit Union
This year Govan Credit Union celebrated 10 years of supplying affordable credit, and better rates for savers, to the people of Govan. Transform TV interviewed Francis from the GCU on how its doing.
The credit union was set up 10 years ago by Govan housewives. As the high street banks were lending money at a high interest rate that was not affordable by the people of Govan, and loan sharks were praying on those that could not get loans through legitimate means. The Govan Credit Union is not for profit company. As well as providing loans, other services are saving accounts and travel money. The credit union encourages thrift, and for people to save. The union is open to all ages to join to save. Loans are available for people over the age of eighteen.
